On Wednesday 16 July, Actus Musicus present a programme of JS Bach, to include his concerto for oboe and violin (with Nicola Barbagli and Julia Kuhn) and the joyful cantata ‘Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen’, with soprano Clare Lloyd Griffiths.
Viol consort Chelys will play an afternoon concert of English viol music, followed by a traditional English cream tea! The programme includes pieces by Purcell, Tallis, Jenkins and Dowland.
We have a great line up of favourites by Bach and Telemann for our next concert – Bach’s harpsichord concerto in F major, which is an arrangement of Brandenburg 4, and possibly the best-loved of his cantatas, Ich habe genug. The programme also includes Telemann’s concerto for recorder and viola da gamba.
A perfect way to celebrate Bank Holiday Monday!
Tickets £15/£10 – email firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re very excited about the programme for our next concert on Wednesday 2 April, which includes a beautiful early Bach Cantata, BWV 150 ‘Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich’. There will also be a very rare opportunity to hear a partita for two violas d’amore by Biber – don’t miss it!

ROSENMÜLLER: Sonata for 2 violins and continuo in e minor
BUXTEHUDE: Nun lasst uns Gott dem Herren Dank sagen

A slight change to the advertised programme for our concert on Wednesday 5 March; this will now include a trio sonata from Telemann’s Tafelmusik, and the obbligato violin sonata in C minor by Bach. We’re very pleased to welcome Eva Caballero to play an unusual quartet for flute, two violas and continuo by Janitsch with us, and Greg Tassell (tenor) will be making a return to St Bene’t’s to sing ‘Meine Seele ruhmt und preist’, a cantata originally attributed to Bach, but now thought to be by Melchior Hoffmann.
